NY Apple Core Eastern Junior Hockey League A Team moves to Brewster Ice Arena for 2012 - 2013 Season

It is official that the New York Apple Core Eastern Junior Hockey League Jr. A team will be playing out of Brewster Ice Arena for the 2012-13 season.....

Press Release: February 1, 2012

In a meeting with the players team Owners Bob Santini & Steve Santini announced that the EJ team will be moving up to the Brewster Ice Arena for the 2012 season and beyond.

The move was initiated for several reasons. The Brewster Ice Arena is the Santini family business and the availability for billeting, gym, ice slots, are easier when you own the rink. The Eastern Junior team, which has been at Long Beach since it's inception in 1999, has had a great run on Long Island, this will continue up in Brewster. The Brewster Ice Arena is a three sheet facility with all amenties for the players & staff.

The team will have access to the Brewster Gym in the facility along with a great Pro Shop, Sports Restaurant, ability to use the rinks to practice whenever it is available.....

"It just makes sense program wise and financially" stated owner Steve Santini

After 12 years of developing players in Brewster, our Junior teams are comprised of mostly homegrown players.

The Eastern Junior Team will now provide an Avenue for players to be able to stay at home until they are ready for College hockey."

The team will remain NY Apple Core and will still be part of the three Junior team Apple Core organization. Developing players with in both Long Island and Brewster will funnel players to the top of the pyramid with the Eastern Junior Apple Core Team, the Best Junior League on the East Coast.

The Apple Core Empire team and the Eastern States Hockey League Junior B teams will remain in Long Beach.

The EJ team will run tryouts in Long Beach and Brewster as well as possible other locations. Brewster will still operate an Empire & ESHL Junior B team as well as a Tier 1 Midget Minor team and the AAA Youth Hockey Program.

The Coaching Staffs will remain basically the same. Eastern Junior Coach Frank Bretti will return as Head Coach with Al Meola, coach of last years Brewster Junior Team that was a National Semi-Finailsts, as the Associate Coach.

"The only change at all will be the location of the EJ team. No other part of the current operation will change" added Team President Bob Santini.

Started by the Santini's in 1988 in Long Beach, The Apple Core tradition runs deep and the organization which has sent (7) players to the NHLand over (200) players onto College Hockey will continue to provide development and excellence in the New York area.
